APPLIED TECHNOLOGY COUNCIL ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF ATC-29-1 REPORT: PROCEEDINGS OF SEMINAR ON SEISMIC DESIGN, RETROFIT, AND PERFORMANCE OF NONSTRUCTURAL COMPONENTS

The Applied Technology Council (ATC) is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the ATC-29-1 Report, Proceedings of Seminar on Seismic Design, Retrofit, and Performance of Nonstructural Components. This 518-page report documents the technical presentations made at the ATC-29-1 Seminar on Nonstructural Components, which was held at the Radisson Miyako Hotel in San Francisco on January 22-23, 1998.

The purpose of the Seminar was to present current research, practice, and informed thinking pertinent to seismic design, retrofit, and performance of nonstructural components. The seminar focused on architectural, electrical and mechanical components and their supports in buildings, hospitals and other essential facilities, and hazardous material and industrial facilities. More than 200 persons participated in the Seminar, including authors of technical papers and panelists who addressed the issue: Improving Implementation of Nonstructural Component Design and Installation.

The ATC-29-1 Seminar technical program was developed for design professionals, regulators, researchers, manufacturers, contractors, insurers, owners, and facility managers. The Proceedings contain 38 technical papers addressing the following topics:

Funding for the Seminar was provided by the National Center for Earthquake Engineering Research and the National Science Foundation.
