ATC ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF ATC-35-2 REPORT: PROCEEDINGS OF NATIONAL EARTHQUAKE GROUND MOTION MAPPING WORKSHOP

The Applied Technology Council (ATC) is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the ATC-35-2 Report, Proceedings: National Earthquake Ground Motion Mapping Workshop. This 154-page report documents the technical presentations and decisions made at the ATC-35-2 Workshop on Earthquake Ground Motion Mapping Issues, which was held at the Los Angeles Airport Wyndham Hotel on September 22-23, 1995.

The purpose of the Workshop was to provide input from the structural engineering design profession and the geosciences/geotechnical engineering professions to the U. S. Geological Survey on several key issues that affect the preparation and use of national earthquake ground motion maps. The following four key issues were the focus of the Workshop:

Advocacy papers promoting competing approaches to resolving these issues and other technical papers presented at the Workshop are included in the ATC-35-2 Proceedings, along with the Workshop conclusions and recommendations. The Proceedings are intended to serve as a comprehensive, concise, resource document for researchers and design professionals who are interested in understanding the major issues of concern in earthquake ground motion mapping for design.

The Workshop was sponsored by the U. S. Geological Survey and conducted under the auspices of the ATC-35 Program to "Transfer U.S. Geological Survey Research Results into Engineering Design Practice."

Copies of the ATC-35-2 report can be obtained from the Applied Technology Council, 555 Twin Dolphin Drive, Suite 550, Redwood City, California 94065 (phone, 650/595-1542; fax, 650/593-2320; e-mail, atc@atcouncil.org; web site, www.atcouncil.org). Check online store for price and shipping costs.
