Seismic Design Category (SDC) Maps for use with FEMA P-1100, Vulnerability-Based Seismic Assessment and Retrofit of One- and Two-Family Dwellings
The assessment and retrofit provisions in FEMA P-1100 Prestandard are applicable for dwellings assigned to Seismic Design Category (SDC) B through E. Further, the prescriptive retrofit provisions of the FEMA P-1100 Prestandard are provided for SDS values determined based on the mapped SDC, as follows:
- For SDC B through D1, SDS shall be taken as 1.0
- For SDC D2, SDS shall be taken as 1.2
- SDC E, SDS shall be taken as 1.5
